I’ve shown a few bags on the blog before, but I was very busy last week being Santa’s elf, and making a few more bags, matching glasses cases and one stocking. The lovely owl and fox fabric came from the Birmingham Rag Market, and is a great heavy weight cotton, really good for making bags. That’s actually the 4th bag with handles that I have made, and this one has pockets on both sides, like two of the others. Its the first time I have made the shoulder bag, which was relatively easy to do apart from the fact that I stitched the wrong shoulder straps together. Luckily I had not stitched up the opening when I noticed!
The stocking was modelled on one that I was given a couple of years ago, and was made from free fabric given in Sew and Love Sewing magazines. It will fit a couple of presents, as well as being decorative. I know who is going to get it…. There is enough fabric for another stocking should I feel so inclined!
Why didn’t I decide to give everybody bags, instead of silk scarves??
